About the Coaches
Aubrey Ryan founded Shoot for the Stars Youth Center in 1999, and still owns and operates it today. She has coached many State & Regional USA Gymnastics Champions over the past 20+ years, compulsory through optional levels and is currently a SFTS’ USA Gymnastics team optional level coach. She takes great pride in specializing in floor exercise and tumbling, as she believes a good floor foundation is vital to creating the best all-around gymnast.
Aspen Ryan graduated from Smithville High School in May 2019 and chose to pursue coaching gymnastics as her next step in life. She has coached gymnastics for 8 years (martial arts for 5) and settled in to coaching SFTS’ USAG pre-team, Bronze and Silver teams the past 2 years. During her 1styear of coaching our young USAG Bronze Team, her athletes received both State and Regional Championship titles. We consider Aspen SFTS’ backhandspring specialist.

DANCE WORKSHOPS
Storytime Creative Movement – July 28th-30th – 6:15-7:15 – Ages 2-5 This summer, step into a new place each day and experience how your little dance can spark his/her imagination by becoming monkeys in the rainforest or camels on safari or flamingos at the beach. Each class will start with a story and craft then dancers will step into that story through movement.
Contemporary Choreography -Aug 4th-6th – 6:15pm-7:45pm – Ages 13-18 This workshop will give your dancer the chance to create their own piece of work. This workshop is perfect for those dancers that like to listen to music and create. We will learn how a choreographer picks the right piece, counts out the music, intertwines emotion into choreography, writes notes to teach and record their piece, and performs it for the world to enjoy. We will finish by recording the choreography and posting it to show off to family and friends.
Rockettes Challenge -Aug 11th-13th – 6:15pm-7:45pm – Ages 9-12 Ever wonder what it’s like to perform like the Rockettes with such precision? Come join this workshop and learn choreography really done on stage by these famous performers. We will learn together what it takes to dance in unison and how it takes teamwork.
Movin’ with Movies– Aug 18th-20th – 6:15pm-7:15pm – Ages 6-8 Does your child latch onto a movie and play it over and over? Frozen songs make their eyes sparkle? Come be a part of this workshop where each day we will dance to songs from another popular movie and make a craft related to that movie to take home. Classes will not require any special shoes or clothes but dressing in character is certainly welcome.
